Alces (“Alces,” “we,” “us”) provides AI visibility services for brands through alces.app and app.alces.app (together, the “Services”). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you request a free audit or contact us, we collect what you submit: typically a brand name, website, email address and product type. When you become a client, we collect the account and business information needed to deliver the Services.

Information about brands and public sources.To provide the Services we send questions to AI assistants and record their answers, including the brands they name and the public web pages they cite. This is information about businesses and public websites, not about individuals, though a cited page or an answer may incidentally include a person’s name.

Automatically collected information. Like most websites, we collect standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used for security and to operate the site.

How we use information

• To produce and deliver audits, reports and the Services
• To respond to inquiries and to follow up on an audit you requested
• To improve the Services and to publish aggregated, non-identifying category research
• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Services, each bound to use it solely to provide their service to us:

• OpenAI, Google, Anthropic and Perplexity (the AI assistants we query; questions are about product categories, not about you)
• Our email delivery provider (audit links and reports)
• Vercel and Railway (hosting and infrastructure)

We may also disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to previously collected information.

Data retention and security

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services and meet legal obligations. All traffic to our services is encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.

Your choices and rights

• Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing us
• Ask us to delete an audit report and the request behind it

Children’s privacy

The Services are intended for businesses and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
